Introduced originally as Microsoft Network (MSN) Messenger and intended primarily for instant messaging, Microsoft Windows Messenger, the revamped and renamed service for Microsoft Windows XP, now includes a variety of tools for interacting with others in real time. Not only can you exchange instant messages, but now you can share applications, make phone calls, exchange files, and even offer or receive help with your computer, all from within Windows Messenger. Another impressive new feature in Windows Messenger is single sign-in, which gives you instant access to all Microsoft .NET–enabled Web sites.
