Chapter 16: Testing Overclocked Systems

The ASUSTeK P/I-P55T2P4 Rev. 3.0 motherboard with the 82430HX chipset supports increased host bus frequencies of 75 and 83 MHz. In order to estimate the maximum performance you can expect from a computer at higher frequencies, appropriate tests have been performed under Windows 95. Performance was measured using the standard tests: WinStone 96 and WinBench 96 (Fig. 16.1).

The following table lists test results for twenty systems overclocked using the technique of increasing the host bus frequency. Tested configurations include various motherboards, processors, and RAMs. The table lists all of the testing data, including information on the rate of data exchange between the CPU and the RAM, L1, and L2 cache memories (columns 2, 3, and 4, respectively). The table also includes information on the type and size of the L1 and L2 cache memories, and the RAM, along with the data on chipsets, processors, etc.
